HEAD OF UNIT: Laura Batlle Morera
RESEARCH OFFICER: Marta Vila Cejudo
LABORATORY TECHNICIAN: Martin Gigirey Suarez
The goal of the Tissue Engineering Unit is to provide CRG, PRBB and external researchers with the latest technologies used in the fields of stem cell biology, stem cell differentiation, organoid formation and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). It also constantly sets up new and emerging technologies in these fields.
The Unit works in collaboration with the Biomolecular Screening & Protein Technologies Unit at the CRG to provide CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing technology service in both cells and embryos.
In the course of 2018, the Unit provided several services of CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, stem cell biology and embryo micromanipulation for research projects.
The Unit also set up and delivered different 2D and 3D organoids differentiated stem cell culture services for pulmonary, intestine and retina CRG projects.
Moreover, the Unit set up CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing directly into embryos and offered a few services using this technique. Further to that, the Unit provided several services of gene editing in cell lines using CRISPR/Cas9 technology as integrated projects together with the BMSPT Unit.
In terms of training, the Unit organised the second edition of the hands on CRG course “From Stem cells to Organoids” and participated as specialist in the CRG course organised by the BMSPT facility, teaching CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing in stem cell lines.
